Construction Help Desk is a recognised partner of the Electrotechnical Certification Scheme (ECS), authorised to assess and issue ECS cards for Sound and AV Engineers. It is also approved to conduct ECS Health & Safety assessments.
Without a valid ECS card, securing work at venues or construction sites can be challenging, as many UK employers require it for anyone working near electrical systems.
The Construction Help Desk-issued ECS cards certify your status as an Construction Help Desk Sound or AV Engineer, with your membership grade shown on the back. This confirms you have successfully passed both the Health, Safety & Environmental (HS&E) and Electrotechnical Site Safety Unit (ESU) assessments and are qualified to work safely in these environments.
All ECS cards are verified against the National Insurance database, which employers may use to confirm their validity.

To apply through ISCVE, you must first become a member. Then, complete the required HS&E and ESU Safety Assessments. Once eligible, submit your application and supporting documents for approval.
You must pass the ECS Health, Safety & Environmental (HS&E) Assessment and the Electrotechnical Site Safety Unit (ESU) test. Your technical qualifications must match the ECS card category you are applying for.
To renew your ECS card, ensure your HS&E Assessment is valid (taken within the last 2 years) and that your membership is current. For lost cards, request a replacement using the official ECS process.
